Expanding the Universe of art

Open Universe is a Miami-based nonprofit building a home for contemporary art by artists with disabilities working in supportive studios, artists the art world has historically left out. We present every artist not as a symbol of disability, but as a maker.

Miami is where it starts: a permanent home for Open Museum, the Open Invitational art fair and gallery, and the community around them. From there, the work travels to fairs, exhibitions, galleries and collectors, and into the places people actually spend their lives: hospitals, senior centers, workplaces and community spaces. Every placement is handled with the care of a museum loan, and every sale and exhibition builds a documented record of the artist's value over time.
